Is Satellite Direct a huge waste of money?

A friend of mine talked me into downloading Satellite Direct to watch TV through the internet. Great. They've got 3,500 channels.Subtracting the ones that are blocked, the ones I'm not interested in and the foreign ones that I can't understand, leaves me approximately zero channels to watch. No CBS, ABC or FOX, except for their news programs, One Cinemax station with a movie from about 1898 - doesn't say anywhere what the movie is - no HBO. We can get the Ozzy Osbourne channel, though. Fifty bucks for this big, steaming pile of channels. Is this guy just totally ripping people off? Is there any way to get my money back?
